We have athletes from Temple, Belton, Killeen, and the surrounding communities, and do not limit our membership geographically. In addition to the sports we currently offer, we are open to offering others if coaches volunteer for those sports. We are a nonprofit volunteer organization and rely on our parents and sponsors, such as our #1 sponsor Primerica (www.primerica.com/johnash), for our existence! Granger baseball drops double-headerDavid Thompson | Posted in the Taylor Daily Press: Monday, March 11, 2013 8:45 pm The Granger Lions faced the CenTex Chargers on Friday in a double header in Granger. The Chargers – a team of home-schoolers from Temple and Belton – won both games, winning the first game 3-1 and taking the night game 4-1. . . . It was a pitching battle in the night game of the double header, as Brett Martinka had a solid complete game outing for the Lions. Granger kept the game close, but gave up three runs in the top of the seventh to seal their fate. Down 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Martinka and Tidwell both reached base on back-to-back singles. With one out, Jimenez hit a RBI-ground out, allowing Martinka to score while also hitting into a double play. Going into the final inning Granger had seized momentum and tied the score 1-1. With two outs and two men on first and second in the top of the seventh, the Lions looked destined to have a shot at victory in the bottom of the inning. . . . the Chargers rallied as back-to-back base hits brought home three runners to take a 4-1 lead. CenTex brought in their stud reliever (Caleb Nicholson) in the bottom of the inning, striking out the side and retiring Granger’s comeback chances. |
