Homeschool World Series 2012 Print

THE CHARGERS FINISHED THE WORLD SERIES 15 OUT OF 27.  The entire team did a great job.  We had great baseball competition, including eight Texas teams; the Fort Worth Riders finishing #1.  Senior Gabor Nicholson and Sophomore Josiah Chupik received the All-American award for the Chargers. Stay tuned for pictures from Defining Moments Photography.

Game Five

The Chargers came out strong in the fifth game of the World Series against the HCYA Eagles.  They scored 3 runs in the first inning and scored another in the third.  The Eagles maximized on Charger errors and the final score of 7 innings was 9-4.  The CHARGERS finish the tournament at 8:00 a.m. against the Waukesha, WI Saints, fighting for 7th place in Division 2.  For information on the HWSA and bracket details, see

Games Three and Four

After the 6-0 loss to the Peach Tree City, Citadels earlier in the day the CHARGERS were in hopes of bouncing back to defeat the Tulsa, OK Jaguars. The CHARGERS and Jaguars remained scoreless until the third inning when the Jaguars scored two runs. The CHARGERS answered back with a two run homerun blast by senior Gabor Nicholson to tie it up 2-2. The Jaguars scored two more in the fifth but it could have been more thanks to an ESPN play in which center fielder Lance Martinez tracked down a fly ball in center field and layed out at the last minute to make the catch and hold the runner on base at first!!! What a play!! Caleb Nicholson pitched four great innings with his brother behind the plate. They teamed up to put a runner out at the plate who attempted to steal home. The game ended with Jaguars ahead, 6-2. The CHARGERS will fight for 6th place tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m. and can't wait for another opportunity to play baseball at the Homeschool World Series! GO CHARGERS!!

Game TWO

The CHARGERS squared off in game TWO against the Hendersonville, Tennessee Royals.  Again, the CHARGERS took an early 3-0 lead.  They were able to hold the Royals off until the 4th inning when the Royals answered with two runs of their own.  The Chargers worked hard to scratch out another run in the 6th inning and by the top of the 7th were able to hold off the Royal rally, only allowing them to score one run.

The Chargers won game two, 4-3.
They were led by a pitching battery of sophomore, Josiah Chupik, freshman Kyle Heisch, and seniors, Joseph Chupik and Gabor Nicholson.  The CHARGERS will take on the Peach Tree City, Georgia Citadels in the qualifying game that will determine their spot in division one or division two as they prepare for three more days of solid, tough and close baseball.

Please join us in prayer, encouragement and cheer, as we fight for victory and enjoy the camaraderie baseball brings!

Game ONE
The CenTex Chargers baseball team took to the diamond to face a Div. 1 qualifying, 2011 team, the Woodstock, Georgia Crowned Knights this evening for their first game of the Homeschool World Series 2012. The Chargers took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning as Gabor Nicholsons' hit brought his brother Caleb in to score the Chargers first and only run. It was a battle as the Chargers fought for 6 innings to hold the Knights thanks in part to pitcher, Matthew Barnett, a senior team member from the San Antonio Wolverines. The Knights were able to put together a couple hits in the bottom of the 6th to score 3 runs and beat the Chargers with a final score of 3-1.  Senior OF, Joseph Chupik made several great catches and brother Josiah relieved Matthew and shut down the Knights in a great first game.

The Chargers will face the Hendersonville Royals in Game 2, tomorrow morning at 11:45 a.m.

Pray and Cheer, there will be more to come as we enjoy our baseball days in Florida!
